The Guardian Series is reporting that Macartney may be moving away from Upton Park…to Sunderland
I’m not sure how much of this is just speculation, but it is being considered that as Nicky Shorey’s name is being banded about (once again) that Macartney would all of a sudden become surplus to requirements.
I thought it was worth mentioning but I think it would serve a complete injustice to the service he has provided us this year and I think the least he deserves is to be considered (even if we do sign Shorey) as a starter next year.
Would people be happy if he was made ’surplus to requirements’?

i personally would be gutted for him if he was told he could go. it wouldn’t be fair on him
he isn’t technically the best player in our team, but he work ethic is second to none
definitely think he deserves his place
