Due to a blatant mistake in my judgment of Fulham’s colours, the title of this post has been renamed…there is clearly no blue in Fulham’s kit!
Well, well… West Ham have let Fulham talk to Zammo and John Pantsil . Not so much JP but it would be a massive shame to see BZ play in a white shirt next year.
Zamora is a west ham man through and through. Apart from Noble, I don’t see anyone else who plays with their heart on the sleeve. Let’s not forget he basically got us up and kept us up within 3 seasons, he’s even got his own song!
If West Ham are deemed for greatness in years in come, I would love to see Bobby lift a piece of silverware wearing Claret and Blue. Bbut if thats not the case I think Fulham have definitely got their money’s worth with him. He’s tall, strong, got a very good strike, great reaction in the box, clean headers, tends to be offside quite a bit during games but if you give him games you will get goals and I can see West Ham regretting that if they let him go.

As a West Ham fan I would prefer Fulham to buy Cole!

its a bloody shame if he goes. he was one of the main reasons we surived the great escape [scoring 5 goals in our last ten games], and he was the goalscorer that took us back to the premiership. if i were bobby i’d feel pretty hard done by with the treatment curbishley’s given him. i’d feel pretty betrayed, especially when he’s persisting with players like lbm who should bloody well go back to fulham for free.
there are those that will speak about carlton cole’s form, but had bobby been fit no doubt he’d have relished the role of being the man we could have depended on. and im certain he’d have scored more goals than carlton.
at least it’s fulham though. good luck to him.

I would definitely keep Zamora over Carlton Cole. Zamora has scored at this level, some spectacular goals as well. Cole scored 3 goals last season, which is proof enough that he just can’t cut it at this level. For all his huff and puff, Cole just has no blow.

exactly my sentiments.
The club are prepared to sell Zamora and keep Cole, due to the emergence of young Freddy Sears and the “form” of Carlton Cole.
The club know they would be getting good money for Zamora, however if they were to try and sell Cole they would get peanuts.

I’ll stay with Cole. Even if a mediocre scorer, he offers other qualities than our other strikers. He can hold the ball up very well, and all of us who saw him win every ball gainst ManU:s world famous central defence last season would really know what had happened if Bellamy had been in the team as well, picking up Coles passes, instead of seeing Cole as the lone striker.
He is also a couple of years younger!
Still sad to see a loyal west ham fan as Zamora go. But I can understand it.

Duxbury puts the emergence of Cole as one of the reasons they will let Zamora go? This is crap. Zamora is a far better player than Cole. He was great when playing alongside Tevez and played with an injury in the last few games in 2007 but was up for the fight, a 100% player and club man. Big mistake to let him go.

It is amusing to read the posts about Zamora. He is not a premiership striker. That is why WHU are going to sell him. I accept that he has scored important goals for us. That is, after all, his job. I also accept that he is West Ham through and through. Cole is a better footballer than BZ but I won’t get too upset if he goes as well. We need to improve our squad. We will only do that if we sell fringe players.
Get real all you West Ham fans who want to retain BZ. You are all probably fans who do not attend matches. I watch over 30 games home and away each season and if he was any good, he would sell for more than £6.5M, trust me.
He goes with my blessing and I hope that he proves me wrong. He is a genuine good guy.

Can I just say that if he goes, I would like to thank him for his services in claret and blue. I have seen him shine with the best and also be dire. However, his contribution to us has been simply superb. I cannot deny the fact that he just doesnt cut the mustard in the elite strikers we have in the premiership, but on his day he is superb.
I am quite shocked at the price tag being muted but this means good business for us and a few quid to hopefully bring in one maybe two more.

he is west ham and 100% he came of age in that run in with tevez but got back in the prem and is what i call a lucky player as he has been there in the big stakes .
i will never forget cardiff for that goal athe emirates or finishing campbells aresenal career.
its unlucky zamora and will cause bad karma.
he is one of my all times because of those 10 last games 2007 and cardiff.
no one will remember ashton cole or bellemy in 5yrs in hammers folklore

Have to agree with TrevorH. Zamora aint premiership class. I know he’s West Ham but that dont mean much to me. I’m sure Berbatov dont support the spurts, neither Torres supports Liverpool or Rooney supports Man U. 6 Mil is a good price to sell to Fulham… it’s a steal considering they sold us Boa morte for 5.5 Mil! Lets hope we can get hold of a Midfielder who can provide decent service to Ashton & Bellers & knock a few in himself.

I think most of you Hammers fans are full of nostalgia, I rate him at no more than £2m and is a good Championship standard NOT a number one striker for a Premiership Club. Thank gawd we have our midfield to get the goals in Bullard, Murphy, Simon Davies, Dempsey and now Gera.

Listen mate, you could watch every single game and still not have a clue why we should try and keep Zamora. I think it’s important to have players who understand what it means to wear the shirt, I reckon the only reason they’re selling is because Bobby wants first team football and Fulham will give us 6 mill for him. I think it’s a mistake to let him go but he must feel as if he’s not wanted after he was given permission to talk to Fulham. That’s pretty much the same as your boss telling you to look for another job.
Bad move I reckon, oh yeah and what’s the betting we keep Boa Morte and get rid of Zamora?
30 games a season of that would dull anyones wits

All in all west ham are talking about cutting wages? if thats the case then the likes ofg neil lbm carlton cole and faubert can all go on the transfer list…..
Let neill go, give pansil his chance….. get rid of boa morte(£100,000 a week saved on these two alone) and offer a 50-60 grand a week wage to sumone like gudjhonson who will take the club forward.
Curbs needs to show some loyalty to players who have done west ham proud!!

faubert will almost certainly turn out to be one of the few decent signings curbishley’s made once he gets himself fit. i saw him score a goal single handedly in a reserves match straight from the kick off. he’s got a lot of class. he was the man france put in the no 10 shirt after zidane retired, it was he that scored on his debut in that shirt. im expecting a lot out of him this coming season.
how you can stick him in with those names is a bit odd, considering they’ve all had their chance to shine and have done nothing with it. neil needs to go to turkey, boa morte needs to go anywhere but the boelyn and cole should be playing for sunderland.

I am sorry that I disagree with Biffo The Bear. i accept that we all have different opinions but I watch over 30 games a year as well and I cannot think of one reason why we should keep Zamora other than a squad player who won’t see much action. If he can get first team football, then let him go. He is a very average striker, no more, no less but he does give 100% If we have aspirations to greatness it will be without players of Zamoras ability, not with them. It

…I suppose when I titled the post, I was thinking it was a really really dark blue…but that didn’t rhyme!

I have to disagree, I think Zamora is premier class. Just because he isn’t in the same class as Adebayor, Torres, Berbatov or Rooney doesn’t mean he isn’t a good player, or a useful player. I go to games, he puts in 100%, has scored some important goals for us. Alright he won’t get you 15 20 goals a season but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a decent squad player.
I think Fulham are quite shrewd in going for Zamora.

Unlike most other teams it seems Hammers fans care about where we come from and what we are about. Bobby Z. is one of us and when he plays he tries his very best and we appreciate that. It may be our downfalling to respect loyalty and graft but that’s part of our being. Look he’s not good enough for us nor is Carlton Cole. They are both middle of the road bottom of the Prem/top of the 1st players. However, he is a good stop gap whilst the main event gets fit and young Freddie learns the ropes. 6.5mm is a great deal so that would sway anyones judgment but it’s what we do with it that matters. If we waste it away then we should have kept him – spend it wisely on some young talent then everyones a winner.
