I’ve decided that (without looking at everything through rose tinted glasses), I am going to write a whole more positively about West Ham. At least about the things I can write positively about….for example, our continued injury farce does not feature on that list.
With the confirmation coming from the club that Bellamy is now out for about a month with a hamstring injury almost beggars belief. He can now be included with the group of players who have already picked up injuries during the pre-season (Cole, Dyer, LBM, Anton).
But like I said…a whole lot more positive….!
So here is my question, how do you think that Curbishley will work the team this year, ie in terms of formation/who he plays where.
I thought a bit more about this since the release of Ljungberg….because as far as I was concerned at the time (and still now), it should have been Ljungberg who was released first instead of Solano. Now in my opinion, Solano would be an ideal substitute right winger and it’s looking like maybe we should have kept hold of him.
Anyway, in terms of the formation, where does everyone fit in? Do we play Lucas Neill at left back, with Behrami at right back to fit in Faubert at right wing? Personally I don’t think we should.
Do we play Linda at left back, Neill at right back and Behrami right wing and then push Faubert up front with Ashton for the time being?
And as another thought is anyone else concerned that maybe since Cole and Bellamy have both picked up knocks (although Cole is expected to be fit), Curbishley will now keep hold of LBM and perhaps use him as a forward? I personally sincerely hope not and I think, based on these poll results, people generally agree.
Here is my added positive bit….whatever happens (and if people stay fit), the right side of our team is looking somewhat strong. That’ll do for now, wouldn’t want to get carried away!
Sam

Are you serious? Faubert up front? When we’ve got a perfect replacement for Bellamy in Sears? Faubert has NEVER played up front to my knowledge, so playing a RB/RWB/RM up front will never set us off on the right foot to achieve anything this season. What’s next, Lucas Neill at LB???
I think you should stick to being negative.

Wish I could be as positive. Our star players continue to be linked with moves away and I’m not convinced that the club won’t cash in on them even with no replacements, we are picking up injuries with every game we play , we are not getting in the players we need to take us forward, youth for the future is good but what about the first team, we are not getting rid of the dross that we still have hanging around, and there are at least 4 or 5 that we should be moving on. Curbs talks about having a great attacking team when everyone is fit, the problem is I don’t see all our top players being fit at the same time. Either we make a statement of intent during the remiander of the transfer window, like other clubs are doing, or I do not see us finishing in the top half as there is no way the current squad qill all remain fit for the whole season. Sorry guys, I’m trying to see things positively but just can’t see beyond reality at the moment.

with anton and bellamy injured i think collison should come into the defence and behrami should play right back at the expense of neill. faubert on the right wing and ethers on the left with parker and noble in midfield. and sears and deano up front.

with all due respect Scott, Curbs has already tried to play Lucas Neill at left back once already this pre-season so that suggestion wasn’t totally ungrounded.
he will do absolutely anything he possibly can to try and fit in his ‘favourites’ (namely Cole, LBM and Neill)
Faubert is a right winger by trade so naturally has an attacking threat. I don’t see any harm in me mentioning that him playing as a right wing forward or the like maybe a setup that is technically a 4-3-3 but with ashton as a loan strikr with matty/foubert supporting either side. it’s just a possibility….
and as for Sears, yes he is good. But at the minute he is a prospect for the future.
He isn’t strong enough to last as a long term replacement for our continually injured players.
Lets put it this way, now we have sold Zamora it will only take for Ashton to pick up a knock (stranger things have happened) against Villareal, and our starting line-up up front against Wigan could easily be Zavon Hines and Freddy Sears.
They are both very good I am not denying that but they are both too young and not experienced enough to be leading the line.
The reality is is that although Behrami is a possibly a good player, Curbs has simply managed to bring in somebody into a position where we already have plenty of cover. We have sold/got rid of two right wingers and a right back and a striker so far. We now need a replacement striker, we also need a replacement left back and he has bought a replacement right back.
The guy simply has not got a clue. During Pardew’s first season we hardly had a single long term injury because he took the time to invest in quality backroom staff and sports scientists….as soon as Curbs came in, he bought in a whole load of crocks and then replaced the quality staff with staff who so far have been totally incompetant.
We will go nowhere under the mis-management of Alan Curbishley because he is too stubborn, he is blind to reality, he is full of excuses and is tactically inept.
Hows that for the negativity you asked for?

Sears is not a perfect replacement for Bellamy, Sears is still learning the trade in the league, he’s not ready for that pressure yet. We need another proven forward.

can there be as poll on whether people believe curbs should be sacked now. Why now, no special reason other than he is clearly a terrible manager, and we will go no where with him in charge, so I say why not now. Maybe we could get a petition going , then send it to BG!
I will clearly be voting yes, would be interesting to see what the majority think.

i see no reason why it wouldn’t be Sam. People are entitled to an opinion, you are simply providing a service in which people can give theirs on curbs!I am very interested to see if people have a similar view on the whole thing!

Pretty much spot on except for one major flaw, Collison is a central midfielder, I presme you mean Tomkins?
