[POLL RESULTS] Should Curbishley Get The Sack?: And Negotiations With Appiah

For the record, I certainly don’t think Curbishley should get the sack…especially so close to the start of the season. I am not his biggest fan as a manager, but as soon as the first ball is kicked on Saturday, I am firmly behind him and the team. I will let his management of the players, the staff, the injuries and the fans to dictate my decision, not a disapproval of appalling performances LAST year.

However, if he signs Thatcher, I will not be best pleased.

And he might just be informed of that personally. By letter or the such like.

Here are the results so far of the poll that Dan C asked me to run….and unfortunately for Curbishley, it doesn’t really read to well:

[poll id="13"]

If you haven’t already voted, now is your chance to get it off your chest.

If he does go ahead and sign Thatcher, you can fully expect another Poll….how can he “not understand the fan’s reaction”?!

Stephen Appiah

The latest news on Stephen Appiah is that he is currently in negotiations with both West Ham and Tottenham with regards to a move to the capital.

The rumours are that he is valued at £6m and he has recently expressed his displeasure at Fenerbahce.

As far as I am concerned, the guy is a very good player. He is strong and as a very good engine. But here is my issue….should we really be signing somebody for a central midfield roll? We have Noble and Parker to play there and Mullins as a back up along with the likes of Jack Collinson and some of the other youth players.

If Curbishley’s idea is to sign him and then play somebody else out of position (ie left midfield where we still need a replacement for LBM), why doesn’t he just sign a left midfielder?

We will see…but all things considered I do think he will be a good addition to our squad.

Sam

    1. I know I was the one who wanted the poll, but I am not pleased with the results as it shows as a club all is not well! I think those that voted for curbs to get the sack, should still support him and the players, because getting on his back will not help! I also hope that curbs proves me wrong and goes on to finish in the top 7, which I will see as a good season, as the top 4 are obviously better than us, and in my opinion unfortunately so are Spurs and Everton currently, and I will be the first to apologise and say I was wrong!

I think what also needs to be mentioned is that it’s not all curbs fault, something is going on with the board and owner that we do not know about, be it money, confidence in curbs, the Tevez saga or all the above, maybe if we had some form of statement from them on what on earth is going on, people would feel better. I mean what happened to all the ambition and champions league in 5 years, because we are 2 and half years into that, and we are a long way off of that. I am not a glory hunter and would support and go to west ham regardless, but I do not like to be lied to, if that is no longer our aims fine, but lets not all live in hope, with no chance that the board will live up to what they said!

    2. Amen Dan, you took the words right out of my mouth. If the club wants to push on then it has a few weeks left in the transfer market to show that or it will be more of the same as last year. Those players that were injured last year have no devine right not to be this year, so what has the club done to minimise that risk and a stock take against the 5 year plan when we are half way in to it would make complete business sense.

    3. Hasn’t Appiah been injured for the best part of two seasons now?

    4. Personally i think curbs should stay finishing in 10th considering last season and injuries was boring but respectable. I dont see how all this vitriol is going to help. Support the team and the manger and let the results decide this season. And yes i think something is going on at the board level we are on a brink of a global recession and though boring and uninteresting their course is prudent at the moment. But we need a replacement for LBM & still dont understand why we didnt keep freddie and sell him next season. Good luck west ham and to curbs.

    5. Funny Ash how others can invest, are they not also on the brink of a global recession? I am not a fan of BG, he is too far removed and I have seen very little that leads me to believe that the 5 year plan is going to be met. Each year they should be investing and they have done nothing and the same players we are counting on this season are the very ones that were injured for most of last, so forgive me if I do not see where we are going to do anything but struggle. If BG isn’t prepared to invest to meet his 5 year plan find somebody who is and will. I want to see European football at this club I love but this “prudence” smacks of “oops what have I got myself into here and how am I going to minimise the damage”. If Curbs is going to fail or succeed it must be based on having been provided all the resources that the club can muster to reach the target, this hasn’t happened so far for this coming season whereas for most of our competitors it has and it pains me to say that we will not finish up the Spuds, Portsmouth, Everton, Man City, Villa, so the best we can hope for is 10th or even worse.

    6. Joe Cole back at west ham, unlikely I know, but if that happened I would declare myself delighted with the summers dealings, and would go a long way to assuring the fans that the board do want success at upton park!

      come home Joe!
