Shouldn’t be doing business with them

Reading through the interviews with Duxburry filled me with a real sense of renewed optimism. If you read my blog regualarly you’ll know I’m usually optimistic as it is, and I’ve never really lost it, but the interviews just filled me with another sense of belief that we can go places next year.

There was the talk about Zola, about Clarke and also our sound financial footing. There was also the talk of not selling to Spurs…which I loved reading about. It was also mentioned that Duxburry reads the online West Ham media (at least he certainly used to, but stopped because of a few mindless idiots – he now has someone keep tabs on what the sites are saying).

Bearing that in mind, there’s just a quick point I wouls like bring up. Why on earth are we doing business with Neill Warnock (Sears) and Sheffield United (Reid). It is beyond me why we would help them out. To think that there were a whole host of clubs after Sears, yet we let him join up with Warnock – who made it explicitly clear how much he wanted to sue us after he got Sheffiled United relegated. But even more so to think that we have let Kyel Reid go to Sheffield United themselves – wasn’t their payout enough compensation or do we insist on continuing to line their pockets?

OK, Reid never made it but he was a product of our famous academy and the poor chap now has to go there to be soiled on by Blackwell and McBaby.

I loved what I read in all of the interviews but these two deal should never have taken place.

Not selling to Warnock and Sheffield United should be named up there with not selling to Spurs.

Sam

  1. I’d rather deal with Spuds than that crap club Sh**field united or their former ‘manager’. Why are we even giving them the time of day??

Yeah, Duxbury came across alright. Bit too much spin for my liking but overall he seemed to be saying the right things.

  2. Reid was a free agent, his contract ended so he could go where he liked. Nothing to do with us

  3. Reid was out of contract and was released by West Ham so we haven’t really done any business with Sheffield United. Once he’s a free agent he can sign for whoever he likes.

  5. Unfortunately, I don’t know we had much control over where Reid went. But to say ‘he didn’t make it’ is a bit unfair, he has shown when out on loan he could perform well at Championship level and he scored for us last season in pretty much his only game?

I just hope we get compensation as he is under 24.

Colin Wa**** should be shot at dawn….

  6. Always enjoy reading your blog.

Now, to business. Warnock? Neil Bloody Warnock?! I was in complete shock about the situation.

There MUST be a stipulation to complete the loan where Warnock calls a press conference and accepts responsibility for their relegation. What? We can dream can’t we.. even if they fade and die ;-)

  7. We had no dealings with Sheff U. We let Reid go, and he then signed for them.

  8. I agree entirely Sam. We should not deal with these clubs, EVER.

The one thing I find the strangest though is the whole Sears thing. Ok he wanted to stay in London he’s young so fair enough but hang on. firstly what can he learn at palace with Colin W*nker? a man renowned for failure at any club he has been at and surely Freddie would want to be at a club where he can really learn something and improve not fester and having to listen to psuedo gaffer rant and rave incoherently?
Also The club pays his wages so surely they would have had a say in where he goes and should have been advising him on what is best not what is closest to his home?

I think Freddie needs a bit of a wake up call to be honest the only one he is going to get at Palace is a sore lug from all the shouting and bellowing that Colin does

  9. Sam, my feelings are the spurs thing is to get fans on-side but it’s just spin really… the only time spurs have ever prised players away from us was after our relegation.

I read Duxberry’s comments about the Sheff Utd payout and really the parties involved are the ones we should be publicly declaring we will not do business with.

I believe we had let Reid go and he was a free agent, as Bloody Limey mentioned above. I also believe that Freddie turned down Peterboro and Sheff Weds (that would have been perfect) to go to Palace. I’m guessing it was about staying in London and I can understand that at 18 years old, but, as much as I like Freddie as a young player, and would hate to see him take any flak from the fans for it, he must have been aware of Mr. W*****’s behaviour and, to be honest, I’m very disappointed him … same goes for Reid.

  10. It don’t seem right does it? Sears going to work under Whorecock and Reid going to Sh*tfield Unentitled, but Reid is on a Bosman after we released him, so therefore he is free to go where he likes, so there is nothing that West Ham could do about that one and I do believe that it was Sears choice to go to Palace because he wants to stay in London.

  11. So Reid is a free agent, but if selling fringe players to Sheff. Utd ( at inflated prices ) can help to pay the criminal compensation we have to pay, then no problem.
As for Sears goin to Palace, I’m more concerned about sending him to such a dumbrain as Warnock to progress his football education. Surely Warnock is one of the worst managers ever to hold high office. Can he really be good for Sears???

  12. I noticed Warnock spewing on in the press about sueing us a couple of months ago. It seems to have all gone quiet now though, mabey this is a little sweetener to shut him up.

You never quiet know the wheeling and dealing that goes on in FC boardrooms accross the country, possibly they arn’t quite as incompetent at keeping secrets as we all would like to think.
