I’ll keep it short because I’m at the game, but it baffles me everytime when play Liverpool that people thinks they have good fans.
They are awful.
They sing at the beginning, and if they score.
Didn’t even bring any flags today.
COME ON YOU IRONS!

They don’t bring flags as they prefer hubcaps to bang but they are not allowed to bring them into away stadiums only Anfield and without the rythmn to follow they can’t sing.

I think you should worry more about your team’s abject performance than concerning yourself with visiting fans. I would have spent my time singing my heart out and getting behind my team, rather than bellyaching when the Liverpool fans were geeing their team on.

I wasn’t at the match but just watched it on MOTD. The only songs I heard West Ham sing were “Your support is f***ing s**t and “sign on sign on with a pen in your hand etc.” Must be great to be in full employment. I understand everyone in the East End is and that you all live in luxury villas and drive Bentleys. When you’re not scoffing jellied eels and beating up Asian women and children that is. YNWA.

My God SteveCS, is this the best you can do?
Are you a little bitter about the loss? I personally think it was a great game between two good sides. We were lucky to come away with 3 points and could have easily gone the other way.
With regards to your Stereotypical scouse insults, the complete lack of punctuation or grammar in your comment shows what a dullard you are.
Grow up son!

I too was at the game – Bobby Moore Upper – and this must rank as the most stupid post of the season. They made as much noise as the WH fans, who also normally sing when they score. A terrific game and a terrific atmosphere.

I’m not a big fan of flags at footie matches anyway…but I do normally find that bigger team’s fans tend to only sing at times when it suits them.
Even to the point where if you go down the leagues, the louder the fans get, at all times of the match.
That’s not to say it’s true of all fans of course…it’s probably just the minority ruining the majority’s reputation again.
Our crowd sounded really good today though, lots of noise (as you’d expect at the Boleyn) and kept going all the way to the end.
Great effort by the lads overall.

You lot were silent apart from when you scored…although I did hear bubbles bursting at the final whistle. That is one damn awful song, fit for the small club that the Hammers are. Enjoy your evening in your east london slums.

Bless. And we thought Everton were the only bitters. You know there was another myth that was blown away today. The myth that West Ham have a tradition of playing good, attractive football. Noble and Parker must have sore necks after the amount of hoofing to Carlton Cole. It was effective, I’ll give you that. But dont keep giving us this rubbish about West Ham playing good football, because its as bad as anything Bolton or Stoke offer up weekly.

Thanks TevorH,
I like to think that Liverpool & Hammers fans have had a level mutual respect. Regardless of the result tonght I hope West Ham and Gianfranco have a succesful season. We have have never had much time for Chelsea, Mlwall, suffered Arsenal and Spurs. But we’ve always known we’re we stand with West Ham.

If bringing flags is your idea of what makes a good set of fans, you either havent seen too much football or you are ten years old. The tv doesnt lie. Liverpool fans sing a lot less than they used to sadly. But other than Bubbles before kick off, the vast majority of the singing came from them.

It’s certainly not my idea of what makes a good set of fans. Where was you sitting at the game…I’ve a feeling that it probably makes a difference in terms of who you hear singing, and how loud..unless of course you’ve based your opinion on what you heard on the box?

I’m a Liverpool fan and I was at the game and I can honestly say we helped to create a great atmosphere along with the West Ham fans. There is always good banter between the two sets of fans and we always get a good welcome in East London.

I always thought that the West Ham fans were like Liverpool fans, knew their football, appreciated good football etc. Obviously got it all wrong..Funny i didn’t see loads of West Ham banners and when we went 3-2 ahead you all went very quiet. As for the hubcaps comment how rich is this coming from a supporter from a set of fans who have just rioted with Millwall fans. It’s so easy to make stupid comments whilst leaning against stereotype…to all West Ham fans who read this my comments are not aimed at the majority just the two sad gits who spoke about the banners and the hubcaps(hysterical that fella, won’t stop laughing for a full half second) Just to put the record straight I thought the West Ham fans were great in vocal, the game was competitive, in Hines you have a great player and you won’t struggle this season if you play like that against the majority.

What a pile of tripe this post is. The Liverpool fans made far more noise than West Ham’s. This post should have been called “We lost at home and I need to type something bitter to try and make up for it”. Open your ears you muppet.

I’m sorry, but your rantings just smack of pure bitterness beacause you lost the game!
It’s not our fault that West Ham play at home, like an away side! More attacking, and you’d get more points!
Granted – the Liverpool fans maybe weren’t as noisy as usual, (probably down to the fact that our “Keystone Cops” like defending, made everyone nervous), but the away support of Liverpool is amazing, and always has been. It’s the Anfield crowd that can be quiet at times, but that’s another story!
Also – There was no need for the “Hubcaps” comment. No need at all!

We can’t agree at Salut! Sunderland on Liverpool fans. I have always had a soft spot for them (and have failed as a father since my younger daughter supports them), but my pal Pete Sixsmith thinks the wise, witty, heart of gold Scouser image is overcooked.
One memory: when they beat us in the 1992 FA Cup Final, we were regarded even by neutrals as having outclassed them in the stands just as, in the end, they outclassed us on the pitch. Walking away from Wenbley afterwards, you couldn;t help but notice how little they seemed to care. “Just another day at the office for them,” was Pete’s comment at the time. But then, since we were not even in top flight that season, maybe they could be forgiven for being underwhelmed by their achievement.

The irony of the Div who posted the first comments, the travelling Kop were probably to busy supporting their team,(as well as the majority of the Hammers fans)to be posting comments whilst AT the game.

What about the you’ll never walk alone, after john arne riise scored and own goal against chelsea 2 years ago. I was at the tottenham liverpool game at the start of season, we made a lot of noise. we re better than any other fans, we never sing anything negative about other clubs, because we arent small time fans, we dont boo previous players (robbie keane, jamie redknapp)and i dont think we ll be booing michael owen, unlike man utd today with tevez, our songs are the most original songs in the league, so you can shove your article up your arse.

Can any of you lads confirm that the story below is true? If so it’s a corker – first time i’ve heard it.
9. Harry Redknapp – ‘Appy ‘Arry was assistant manager of West Ham when, during a 1994 pre-season friendly, he asked a fan who he heard criticising Lee Chapman if he could do better himself. “All through the first half some tattooed skinhead behind me was giving Lee terrible stick,” said Redknapp. “At half-time I turned to this bloke who had West Ham etched on his neck and asked ‘Can you play as good as you talk?’ He looked totally confused. So I told him he was going to get his dream to play for West Ham. We sent him down the tunnel and he reappeared 10 minutes later all done out in the strip. The fella wasn’t bad – actually, he scored!”
