Dean Ashton has today confirmed his retirement from football through injury.
The problems stem back to 2006 where he sustained a broken ankle whilst on international duty under Sven, a challenge from Shaun Wright-Phillips in training. Deano has bagged some famous and quality goals for us – notably on our road to the FA Cup Final, I’ll always remember his one against City in the quaters that year; needless to say, he’s been a huge loss already. He had the makings of a World Class finisher and it’s something that England, as well as us, could do with right now…an old fashioned, out and out centre forward who knows where the back of the net is.
I just hope that West Ham recognise his top class technical ability and offer to keep him around in some sort of striker-coaching capacity.
From all the readers of The West Ham Process, we wish you all the best Deano
Sam

Gutted. Best English striker of his generation hands down. Sheer class

Sam… maybe we should try a petition for dean ashton to have an honory football match at upton park, like a testimonial, but all the proceeds to go to Dean Ashton to help him and his young family have financial stability.
lets face it, he would be playing for a top club if he hadn’t been injured.
we should support him to get another career
