Close of play – Gold and Sullivan come out on top. No pun intended.

It it finally looking like this whole “ownership” saga has come to a close.

Reports coming from the Daily Mail are that Gold & Sullivan have purchased a percentage (which they believe to be 50%) of the club for £105M. some might compare our current situation with, say, moving from Burnley to Bolton. But anyway.

I’m keeping any opinion on the matter to myself until I’ve slept on it for a bit – but initial thoughts are unfortunately negative.

    1. Am equally underwhelemed by the result. BUT….. I’ll give them my backing 100%. They haven’t done anything wrong, yet. And unless they go on to justify my concerns then they are OK by me.

Just wish it had been TF or IM!

      • Sammy……..From where we are today – no investment, in debt, real danger of losing the ‘crown jewels’ again!!….how can this be anything but positive??

To feed the negativity that some ‘may’still hold, the Icelanders are still around BUT Gold and Sullivan have the controlling say.

It has to be positive..they are football people who understand our club and despite what many may think we are surely better off with them than without them…in my humble opinion of course.

        • Tell you what KW(!), I did have my initial doubts…

However that press conference this afternoon made for fantastic viewing. It really was an eye opener, but encouraging too

I’ve slept on it now and I’m feeling far more positive about it all…you’ll be pleased to hear!

    2. Pornstars on our shirt,
      Greedy Bankers are beaming,
      many more years of hurt,
      I still haven’t stopped screaming.

So many jokes, so many sneers,
      But all those wasted tears,
      Wear you down,
      Through the years,
      But I still see that
      tackle by Moore,
      And when Di Canio scored,
      Dicksy belting the ball,
      And Pardew Dancing…

Pornstars on our shirt …. ad infinitum

and now to a serious note. yes I will try and support the new owners if/when its finally announced but I just cant help the way I feel at the moment. I am big enough to admit when I am wrong and will be one of the first to sing their praises if they get it right.

      Sigh

    5. The ownership poll showed that G&S were most fans third choice but in business our prefered option does not count too much. The banks have taken the safest option for securing their debts and view G&S as the safest bet to make their retained 50% a valuable assett. We now have wealthy owners who have a vast knowledge of running a premiership club. Who have been involved with the club as board members and in DG’s case a player. They have a track record of giving their managers time to prove themselves and have always stated that they will invest in the playing squad.
I think this is a case of a glass half full or half empty. They deserve our support as they try to stabilise the club. TF was always viewed as the man to bring exciting times to WH and had my vote. However viewing our position G&S may be the safest pair of hands at this point.

    6. Part time owners, they’re just some part time owners, part time owners etc etc. A 50% share! Karen Brady only wanting to work for our club two days a week!
Also with the Brady bunch at the club that’ll be Upson off then!
Gutted that Fernandes didn’t get the nod – someone that actually wanted the Hammers 100% – not 50%!!
For now we have to support the new regime and here’s a novelty – that support will be 100%. But that same principal will apply at the end of the season. I’ll either buy a whole season ticket, or none at all!
Sullivan, you’ve “talked the talk” about loving West Ham, now let’s see you “walk the walk”

    7. Cant beleive all the negativity i am reading, after all we have been through. We should be happy someone was happy to stump up the cash and not just wait till we were relegated and buy us up on the cheap. Look at Portsmouth, who knows how close we were to that situation. God bless’em i say and i will hold my black thoughts in check until the end of the season. We are not Birmingham and they are hammers fans. Lets give em a chance

    8. Come on Chey, Sullivan not buying us on the cheap! These are the same people that just a couple of months ago wanted a 51% share of the club with no money going to the bank who’d repossessed us! Thank goodness for some recent ‘real’ offers and competition. These have forced Sullivan to stump up some real money and hopefully submit a plan to take our club forward.
I truly want this new ownership to work but let’s not kid ourselves, Sullivan would not have touched us if we were in the Championship.

    9. West Ham belongs to real East Enders now, said Mr Sullivan: “The club is now back in the hands of East Enders, people who understand the community and its passion for the Hammers. I believe that depth of feeling will also bring us through what has been a difficult period.”
Sounds as good as this other statement: “Zola is staying”.
